A learnership is informed by a fixed-term agreement between an employer, learner and training provider; this is normally on a 12 months period. An employer can enter into learnership agreement with an existing employee or with a learner who is not an employee. Completing a learnership does not guarantee permanent employment), however it provides an opportunity for unemployed learner to show his/her potential.
